Commenting Policy

Remember the purpose of comments on the site.

This site is about sharing your experience with the topic, protecting others and warning others.

You can share your experience without personal attacks, profanity, derogatory names and name calling. You can be as civil as you would be if you were in a court testifying. Stay focused on the above purpose.

Criticize without crossing the line.

These discussions often entail topics that have caused a lot of pain. But in order for discussions to thrive here, we need to remember to criticize ideas, actions and systems, without crossing the line into slander and abuse.

 So, remember to avoid:

  • name-calling
  • mean-spirited attacks
  • Responding to a post’s tone instead of its actual content.
  • knee-jerk contradiction
  • sharing information that is baseless, undocumented and can not be substantiated anywhere.

Comments that we find to be hateful, inflammatory, unhelpful to the topic, off topic, lacking in substance, lacking in value, out of scope for this site, or harassing may be removed. If you don’t have anything beneficial or fact-based to say, stay quiet.

Always strive to add value to every interaction and discussion you participate in

There are a lot of discussions going on.
If you are not sure your post adds to the conversation, think over what you want to say and try again later.

Keep it tidy

Help make moderators’ lives easier by taking a moment to ensure that what you’re about to post is in the right place. That means:

  • don’t post off-topic comments
  • don’t cross-post the same thing multiple times

If you see something, say something
